More cultural treasures made freely available by the NSZL on the National Day

2024/03/15

On the occasion of the anniversary of the 1848–1849 Revolution and War of Independence, manuscripts of Ferenc Kölcsey’s prose works and six of his previously unknown poem fragments, as well as letters and poems by Júlia Szendrey, and 19th century photographs, including daguerreotypes of the Egressy family, have been made freely accessible and downloadable to everyone in the NSZL’s Copia and Fotótér content service.

On 15 March 2024, the NSZL held a press conference in the Land of Poems exhibition, which presents the emblematic poems of Hungarian poetry (Hymn, Appeal, National Song). On the occasion of the national holiday, the online space was enriched with priceless treasures of Hungarian culture. Following a welcome speech by Dávid Rózsa, Director General of the NSZL, Eszter Vitályos, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, gave a speech at the event.

The programme continued with a lecture by Ferenc Földesi, Head of the Manuscript Collection of the NSZL, on the content criteria for the creation of the Copia digital manuscript collection and the newly digitised manuscripts of Ferenc Kölcsey and Júlia Szendrey, followed by a presentation by Réka Sárközy, Head of the Historical Photo and Interview Collection of the NSZL, on the newly digitised daguerreotypes of our 19th century collection.
